Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD)
H.E. Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad is the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), a position he has held since March 2021. With over two decades of experience in international development finance, he has played a pivotal role in advancing the Fund’s mission to drive sustainable economic growth and prosperity across developing nations.
Under his leadership, SFD has undergone a comprehensive transformation program designed to strengthen its institutional capacity and global impact.
During his tenure, H.E. Al-Marshad has overseen a significant expansion of SFD’s global portfolio, which now encompasses nearly 100 partner countries across Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Europe, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Saudi Vision 2030.
A firm advocate of global collaboration, H.E. Al-Marshad has strengthened partnerships with international development institutions, having signed and overseen 11 international MoUs spanning four continents, with key partners including the World Bank, African Development Bank (AfDB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and has championed SFD’s role in fostering South-South and Triangular Cooperation. His leadership has been instrumental in guiding SFD’s 50-year-plus legacy of impact and positioning it as a strategic partner in building a sustainable and equitable future for all.
Prior to his appointment as CEO, H.E. Al-Marshad held several key positions at SFD, including General Manager of the Monitoring and Auditing Department and General Manager of the Export Assurance Department. He has also served as a member of the Credit Committee, Budget Committee, and Administrative Committee, and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Saudi Export-Import Bank.
H.E. Al-Marshad holds a Bachelor’s degree in Administrative Sciences (Accounting) from King Saud University, and has completed multiple professional qualifications in export credit and financing, internal auditing, and financial analysis.
